Two months after a Houston mother was fatally shot in front of her 3-year-old son, police have arrested a murder suspect.
On Monday, Dominique Menefee, 30, was arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail on charges of murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in connection with the death of Sherniqua Banks, 34, according to astatementfrom the Houston Police Department.
On Sept. 7, Banks was found shot to death in the driver’s seat of a crashed car with her 3-year-old son unharmed in the backseat, police said. A 41-year-old man who had been sitting in the front passenger seat was also shot but is expected to survive.
According to police, Banks was driving along West Gulf Bank Road when Menefee, who was in another vehicle, allegedly began shooting at her car.
“At that time, the two individuals were questioned and released without charges filed,” the statement reads. “It was believed a third individual, the shooter, fled on foot prior to officers’ arrival.”
