Ahead of its debut at the end of January, PEOPLE has the exclusive first look at the docuseries — including an “intoxicating” first look at what’s to come from the first season.
“When you’re at the racetrack, the overall sensory experience, the way it sounds, is intoxicating,” ESPN journalist Marty Smith can be heard narrating the trailer. He adds, “If you’re a race car driver, you have the opportunity to get hurt or killed — but you do it anyway. Think about what a badass that is.”
Chronicling the2023 NASCAR Cup Seriesplayoffs and championship race,Full Speed’s first five episodes will follow drivers as they vie for one of the most coveted titles in U.S. motorsports. Among those featured on-screen are Ryan Blaney, William Byron, Ross Chastain, Denny Hamlin, Bubba Wallace, Kyle Larson, Christopher Bell, Joey Logano and Tyler Reddick.

”The intensity of the elimination format in the NASCAR playoffs is unlike anything else in motorsports,” Dale Earnhardt Jr., NASCAR Hall of Famer and executive producer of the docuseries, tells PEOPLE.
Echoning that sentiment, Connor Schell, executive producer and CEO of Words + Pictures production company, adds that the “playoffs provide the perfect dramatic backdrop to tell a story filled with tons of tension and unforgettable characters.” And ”after spending the last several months embedded with these drivers on and off the track,” he can’t wait to “bring both core and casual fans deep inside this incredible world.”

Earnhardt Jr., adds, ”NASCAR: Full Speedprovides an incredible opportunity for folks to learn more about how this sport works, who these drivers are as people and competitors, and what makes them the best in the world at what they do.”
