Kim Kardashian Westholds an extra-special memory with the lateKarl Lagerfeld— he shot her first major fashion spread.
Kardashian West mourned theloss of Lagerfeld, who photographed the star for a provocative shoot withCR Fashion Bookin 2013 while she was seven months pregnant with daughterNorth West.
“We lost a true legend!!!! You were such an inspiration to the world! You shot my first fashion shoot and I was so nervous to work with such an icon!” Kardashian West, 38, wrote on Instagram alongside a series of photos with the fashion icon.

“The world is so much chicer because you existed! I am beyond honored to have met you and had the opportunity to work with you. You are so loved and will be so missed 💔,” she added.

Kardashian West previously said before her big photoshoot with Lagerfeld, she had heard hegifts his subject a Chanel bagafter the first time they work together. “The whole time, I was anxiously waiting to see if this legend was true,” shewrote on her appin 2016.
But KarJenner momagerKris Jennerhilariously upstaged her — andKardashian West was devastated.

“During the shoot, my mom showed up to support me and she was all decked out in head-to-toe Chanel — I’m talking gloves, sunglasses, earrings, boots and a jacket,” theKeeping Up with the Kardashiansstar remembered on her app. “I thought she was SO embarrassing, LOL, but Karl loved it so much that he pulled out a Chanel purse — not just any purse but their beautiful crystal Lego clutch. I got so excited, thinking Karl was going to give me a surprise bag, but instead he goes straight to the Chanel queen herself: Kris Jenner.”

With her pregnancy hormones in full swing, Kardashian West ran into another room and broke down into tears when Lagerfeld gave Jenner the clutch.
“I was very hormonal and emotional from my pregnancy, so I went to the bathroom to cry and then called my cousin Cici to calm me down,” Kardashian West said. “I was upset that my mom stole my moment! More importantly, I really wanted to one day give North that bag as a token from my only pregnancy shoot.”
“For thisHarper’s Bazaarshoot, I finally told Karl and Carine [Roitfeld] this story, and they thought it was hilarious,”she said. “At the end of the shoot, Karl surprised me with not one but TWO Chanel bags. I will forever be grateful for SUCH a special moment. My dream of getting a Chanel bag from Karl finally came true!”
