Jo Koykicked off the81st annual Golden Globe Awardswith a bang.
Koy, 52, got the crowd going as he addressedRobert De Niro, who he said he’s a big “fan” of before asking: “How’d you get her pregnant at 80?”
“CGI?” he asked, referring to De Niro’s newborn daughter, whom he and his girlfriendTiffany Chenwelcomed in April. Koy then turned away from the actor and asked the audience, feigning shyness, “Is he looking? Is he looking?”

On a similar topic, he called outBarry Keoghan, who lowered his head when the host singled him out.
“Where’s your penis seated? Down front?” Koy said, shouting out a full-frontalnude scenethat concluded Emerald Fennell’sSaltburn. “That was the real star of the show.”
He then said that something was “missing” inBarbie, compared to what was “dancing” inSaltburn, before landing a jab atBradley Cooperand hisprosthetic nose inMaestro.
During his monologue, Koy also made some jokes about another blockbuster hit from 2023, as he quipped thatOppenheimer"needed another hour," before saying that his resolution for 2024 was to finally finish theChristopher Nolanfilm.
“Oppenheimeranswered my question that had been on my mind for years – yes, scientists do get laid. As long as they look likeCillian Murphy.”

DuringVarietyandEntertainment Tonight’s Golden Globes digital pre-show, Koy said that the hosting gig was his chance to “show what I can do.”
“I wanna bring my flavor, my style,” he said of his approach to the show, which he called a chance to “celebrate” Hollywood after themonths-long strikes.
He also said that he was “in complete awe” when he was asked to host. It was his “holiday present,” he joked.

The comedian wasannounced as this year’s hostin December, and called the role “extra special" in a statement.
“This is that moment where I get to make my Filipino family proud,” Koy said.
“We are thrilled to have Jo host the 81st annual Golden Globe Awards and bring his infectious energy and relatable humor to kick off Hollywood’s award season. We can’t wait to see what he has in store for the stars in the room and a global audience,” said Golden Globes President Helen Hoehne. “We know Jo is bringing his A-game.”

Last year’s showdid not feature a host, as its former broadcast partner NBC declined to air that year’s ceremony in response to the scandal.
