God damn it , Apple . So I do n’t buy a lot of albums from iTunes Music Store , because I ’m cheap and Denton had to get another set of amber fronts , but I ’ve got a distich here and there , which I have unlocked withPlayfair / Hymn . Now part of the whole shtick with Hymn is that even though it strips the iTunes DRM , it leaves your email address and other unique purchasing information in the protected AAC file , ostensibly to symbolically signify that Hymn user are n’t trying to spread their middling - purchased medicine files to the whole cosmos , but instead to whatever devices they need . I unlocked mine so that I could be certain to play them after I had reformatted my motorcar . I ’m pretty trusted Apple has a method acting of reauthorizing your computer , but that ’s a hassle . But now the new version of iTunes has recognized that the DRM - stripped M4P files were purchased from iTMS and is telling me my ( reformatted , reinstall ) machine is n’t authorized to work them . So gee , thanks for that , Apple .
Get the fix after the jump .
Luckily , there ’s a way around it if you ’re ready to hand with a hex editor ( thanks to Slashdot exploiter Otto for this ; I do n’t need to inculpate I thought this up myself , although it is doltishly easy ) . look for for the drawing string ‘ geID ’ in your file cabinet — it might be something similar , but different , but the screenshot shows about were it should be . transfer that to something else ( I used ‘ heID ’ ) and save the filing cabinet . Voila , your music is devoid again and you ’ve just go bad any numeral of federal statutes . Welcome to the social club . You were believably already a member .

The lamentable part is this mean the next version of Hymn will credibly strip out the personal entropy from the legally - buy filing cabinet , since Apple is too beholden to the RIAA to wait the other way . I have sex iTunes , I think it ’s a joy to employ , but Christ , I get the substance . Sorry I tried to represent by your rules .
And uhm , I thought Kylie Minogue was the lead singer for Sepultura . Or something .
