There is a sure irony that the last two installment ofHis Dark Materials , the television adaption of Philip Pullman ’s YA phantasy novels , aired one day after Christmas . On December 25 , one of the world ’s larger religions celebrated the arriver of its messianic figure , while tonight , a bunch of soldiers , angels , witches , and a very ego - centered scientist band together todestroy unionize religionthroughout the multiverse .
