I ’ve in person found most racing game on the iPhone to be gravely difficult to hold , with the steerage controls sending me veering back and onward across the track with no prospect of winning . NFSU feels tighter , with a quick twist of the iPhone putting you into purport mode rather than send you careening across the track . I really got the hang of it pretty quick . You accelerate automatically , with one digit anywhere on the screen acting as a brake . A quick swipe up is a nitro boost , while a speedy swipe down puts you in Speedbreaker mode .
The graphics are really strong , with no noticeable framerate singultus and reasonable load times . They ’re easily as salutary as the graphics you ’d expect to find on the PSP . The music is a bit too aggro for my gustatory perception , but your mileage may vary . Overall , it ’s definitely one of the good sounding games I ’ve seen on the iPhone .
The game has a plot line that involves standard - event undercover cop stuff that has you infiltrating a street racing fit that has undefined ties to smuggling or some such activity . In any sheath , the tribulation where you need to take out cop railcar are much more difficult than regular races , as they make you both ram copper and beat time limits , which was heavy for my lousy - driving ass to do . There are 8 different modes overall that you ’ll encounter throughout the plot , keeping thing nicely varied .
There ’s a good amount of content here , with many slipstream and biz modes and a system in place to buy newer and proficient auto as you advance . It does n’t find like a half - game made for the iPhone , and you could put many hours into this thing if you ’re a completist . For fans of racers who are looking for a hearty game with good graphics and satisfying controls , this one is decidedly deserving the scratch .
