It seems like the last few episodes of Grimm I ’ve been point out the least interesting plotlines . It may have take until the death of the episode to affirm , but I ’m not sure there ’s a bad consequence in “ The Waking Dead . ”
This was the penultimate episode of the season , so unlike most Grimm sequence , there is so much shit going on . Wu shoots a guy rope who was enter all in by the aesculapian inspector a few days ago . Nick retain seeing a weird gallant with a top hat . Juliette is determined to convalesce all her store , which includes learn about the true nature of Wesen — and seeing them in action . Adalind gets caught between Frau Pescher and Stefania . Renard ’s brother Eric go far in Portland to talk and … has other plans .
That ’s a net ton of shit , and I wish Grimm was always this packed . But let ’s embark on with the main plot of land , which seems like another Wesen - o’-the - Week story , but turn into something much more interesting by the end . Wu and Generic Cop investigate a domesticated disturbance ; they discover a miss beat and have to fool away the crazed man who ’s clearly stamp out her . Upon probe , they detect the valet de chambre already has a coroner ’s report replete out from three days ago , which , Nick et al . assume is some kind of clerical mistake . Now , I ’m all about Nick recognize Wesen at the first mite of them , but this is straight up zombi stuff , and a clerical error does seem like a genuinely more reasonable explanation , so I ’ll give him a pass .

The girl the zombi belt down wake up on the Medical Examiner ’s tabular array , gross out everybody out . Nick forthwith hit the trailer — a good call , just to be on the safe side . turn out the perpetrator is a Wesen called the Cracher - Mortel , who is for all intent and use Baron Samedi , all over with a New Orleans emphasis and a penchant for raising the dead , whose green expectoration basically makes zombies . Samedi superintend to spirit the girl from the infirmary before Nick and Hank can investigate further .
Meanwhile , Juliette is determined to finally get her last memory back , which is of whatever Nick told Monroe to show her at the end of time of year one . These scenes are splendiferous and practically a unmediated apology to the fans for taking so long to get to this import : Monroe , Rosalee and Bud argue Rosalee should go first as the least scary of the three , Bud accidentally transform due to stress , Monroe actually taking a gradation back to minimize the terror of Blutbad word form even slimly , Juliette walk out , giving viewers a few seconds of terror that everything is going to repeat itself — and then she walks back in . candidly , I do n’t recognise that this pivotal mo could have been presented any substantially . After all the agitation and stall , it ’s either a have sex wink to the devotee to get Juliette over this plot level chop-chop , or it ’s a smack in the expression , but either way I think we ’re all glad Juliette is now on board with Team Grimm .
Also meanwhile , Adalind ’s semi - confidantes Frau Pescher and Stefania are getting into a piss friction match regarding Adalind ’s unborn Royal baby , with the Frau threatening Adalind and Adalind turning to Stefania to help . This results in Stefania ram Adalind to “ ratify ” a contract bridge ( via magic / blood line / handprint magic ) ; this is potential a horrifying decision on Adalind ’s part , but one we wo n’t know the results of until next instalment . And in Grimm ’s biggest development , Renard ’s comrade Eric arrives by chance in Portland , who , after arranging to meet with Renard in the finale , has an actual meeting … with Baron Samedi . Who happen to also have a gargantuan warehouse full of his zombie creatures .

When I image the trailer for this episode , I was certain that it was going to be unsound ; it seemed like it was just trying to cash in on The Walking Dead and the zombie fad , that it would offer a few sleazy scares , and essentially be another broadside , standalone installment . So get me you how thrilled I am that Baron Samedi is n’t just a Wesen - o’-the - Week , but part of whatever plan Eric has for his brother , and/or the Grimm , and/or Portland . That the installment did n’t actually focalise on revulsion at all ( one panic attack in the M.E. ’s room hardly weigh ) . That unlike most episodes of Grimm ( or The Walking Dead for that affair ) I never felt like the show was padding itself out or waste time .
Samedi is n’t a gimmicky , temporary antagonist , he ’s part of a major threat , and revealing that Eric is behind him raises the stakes considerably for what I ’m fully expecting to be a somewhat exciting , possibly relevatory Grimm season finale next calendar week . We have Renard finally run into his brother , a preview full of zombies ready to intrude on Portland , Eric behind it for unknown reasons , the possibility that this is n’t the first Wesen Eric has sent to assault Portland — and we finally break up the Juliette memory / Nick relationship affair for good while also in conclusion putting Juliette on Team Grimm ! I have zero problems with any of this . No backsies , Grimm !
Assorted Musings :

• TV fans may distinguish Baron Samedi as the histrion Reg E. Cathey , who was Aidan Gillen ’s political advisor on The Wire . If Baron Samedi require to stop by Game of Thrones and give Littlefinger some help , I ’d have no objections .
• Now that I ’m lastly watching Nick and Juliette both have feelings for each other at the same time , there is a unearthly footling chemical science between them . That was a pleasant surprisal .
• Man , lease me tell you again how majuscule the prospect where Juliette sees he first Wesen is . If you ’ve been watching since the beginning , it ’s belike not worth waiting two full season for , but I still moil it .

• James Frain , who play Renard ’s buddy Eric , was just born to play upper - division , snobbish villains . He does seem to be having more fun here than he did on The Cape , however .
• Spoiler from the “ Next time on Grimm ” preview which mean it ’s totally not a spoiler : It appear that Adalind ’s brief round with motherhood is going to come to an end . I ’m betting this means she ’ll also get her Hexenbiest power back , so she can return as a magnate player in time of year 3 .
