Hey Californians , you are all going to die . Not in some abstract , finally , kind of manner . But horribly . In a radioactive fervidness . Probably .
The Diablo Canyon Nuclear Power Plant , which Rolling Stone dub California ’s “ Fukushima in waiting ” straddles blame lines and sits on the edge of the sea . In the wake of Fukushima , it had a safety inspection by the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission on April 11 .
It did n’t go well . The Bay Citizen reports :
The building that houses the plant ’s fervour trucks could crack in an seism . Inspectors also happen that power plant life operators had go wrong to take part in demand education usage with on - site firefighters and other regional first respondent . And inspectors get word that new security fencing prevented pinch hosepipe from reaching a water reservoir .

The plant ’s back - up generator might not be usable during a disaster , because PG&E had not considered how to call on them on under adverse conditions . The generators are all store in the same smear , which could make them “ susceptible to a vulgar made failure because of the similarities in design and location , ” the report stated . In short , not only is Diablo Canyon a Fukushima in wait due to its position on geological fault line and the ocean , but it ’s also in much worse shape to respond should something high-risk really occur .
