There ’s a very , very strong relationship there that is not just professional . There is that professional element , but in all likelihood more substantially , more significantly , you have that father - Word parental dynamic . As far as that professional component goes , “ Raych is sort of Hari ’s supporter , but not in the variety of schematic sense , ” Enoch said . “ He ’s not the form of helper you ’d peradventure imagine an academic having . It ’s a turn more helping hand - on . He ’s no mathematician . That ’s not where his genius lies , but he ’s practical and he can look after himself and others . And that ’s sort of what he ’s phone to do . [ Raych ] has a kind of a crowing part to play in Hari ’s construct of how to move things forrard with his plan . So there ’s a muckle of responsibility there and the stake are very high . As we know , we ’re sell with a plan essentially to save humanness and human noesis . What ’s complicated is the balance act between that and the personal relationship . And when those things set off conflict , that ’s when we get getting radioactive dust . ”

In the series , the Hari - Raych kinship begins to take a good turn when Hari realise that , mathematically , the Galactic Empire is doomed . The dynamic becomes even more upended when young maths whiz Gaal Dornick ( Lou Llobell ) arrives to process with Hari , and alternatively determine herself link both of them and Hari ’s other followers when they ’re exiled to a new planet on the far remnant of the galaxy . On the journeying , Raych and Gaal terminate up take form a provisionary romance . “ [ With Hari , Raych , and Gaal ] , they sort of mould this unusual triangle . That creates quite an interesting situation where , in a scene with any of the two of them , the other one is this kind of implicit unobserved factor , the kind of elephant in the room , ” Enoch says . “ The elbow room they ’re all relating in pairs and as a three becomes a variety of ball in the air to juggle , a situation that has Brobdingnagian repercussions going fore . ” What repercussions , you ask ? Well …

After Raych memorise from Gaal that Hari ’s endtimes possibility might have some key pieces miss , he dig his founder frame , then puts Gaal in a cryosleep - enabled outflow pod before sending her off to parting unknown . It ’s a startling turn for a character whose loyalty had , seemingly , only just begun to waffle . “ In a sense , we ’ve limn a lot of the kinetics at gambling , and there he is trying to navigate those oppose force , ” Enoch said of Raych ’s drastic activity . “ Speaking of that episode , it ’s splendid . I remember [ starting the script for ] episode two and I went , ‘ waitress , what ’s going on here ? ‘ And I got to the end , and I was aghast . It was electric shock , after shock absorber , after cushion . But there was something really satisfying in finding the fib twisting and turning in that way , but it feel very well - motivated and not feel complimentary . ”

Despite the surprising parts of the show — the stabbing is by no substance the only act of violence we see in the former episodes — Enoch thinks Foundation is still a hopeful story . “ I hope it ’s something that , yes , think of people , but encourages people to reflect on the way our club is or where we fit within our relationship with authority and learning and the importance of it . I [ hope ] it make people to shine , because I opine that ’s something exciting that can occur when we ’re stage with a universe that is unlike from our own , that can exuviate light . It gives us a linear perspective — possibly at a bit more of a distance we can begin seeing things we might not have note otherwise . If it provokes a picayune piece of thought as well as entertain people , I ’ll be very happy with that . ”
