It ’s time to retrograde last night ’s riveting instalment of The Event . Because who would n’t want to watch over Vicky get drunk and pretend she ’s on Burn Notice ? Or see Martinez yell KILL EM ALL for like the 40th time ?

This instalment was incredibly boring even for a show that has really explored all the way of life boredom can be deployed and enjoyed .
A narration of three annoying arguments
Basically the nitty-gritty of the instalment was about the standoff between the newly evil President Martinez and the stranger , who make up one’s mind doltishly to meet in a church in the middle of Los Angeles . Martinez is going to preserve with his “ use our illegally dispatched special personnel guys against the alien ” matter . Even though Sterling says , “ Dude , you ’re going to vote down them and even I ca n’t deal with how violent that is , despite the fact that I murdered my girlfriend once . ” There are a passel of tight shots of Martinez look house and murdery , and enjoin things like , “ utilize any means necessary ” and “ Take them out . ”
Meanwhile Sterling is thinking about how that alien leave her life for him , and how much he want to torture and interrogate the aliens and what a bummer it is that when they ’re dead he ca n’t do that . So there ’s some tenseness .
At the same prison term , Martinez has about twenty conversations with Sophia on her iPhone which vocalise like this :
Sophia : You ca n’t do this .
Martinez : You have lied to me . You have ten minute to surrender .
Sophia : You do n’t understand !
Martinez : You have lie to me . I ’m done playacting games !
Sophia : Do n’t do this !
And then they get off the phone and Sophia yells at Thomas and blames him for everything . Then they have an argument that goes like this ( yes this really encounter about three times ):
Sophia : It ’s your flaw ! You forced us into red face-off !
Thomas : Humans are the wild ones .
Sophia : You bug out it !
Thomas : I did what I had to do .
Sophia : Leadership is hard and requires ritual killing .
Thomas : You hid in jail rather of being a loss leader .
Sophia : All you did was unite our people in a palaver of fear .
And then eventually they cried and made up and Thomas ’ girlfriend was severely pissed off .
Meanwhile , another annoying literary argument happened between Leila and her dad Michael , which I wo n’t bother distinguish other than to say it involved a good deal of expressionlessness and “ I want to know and you did n’t differentiate me stuff ” and “ It ’s all my geological fault because I ’m your begetter ” crap . And now Leila is going to have to be firebomb with everybody else because of Michael .
If you abide by the guilt trip-up path through the sequence , which seems to be the only route uncommitted , I think it would look like this : Leila is in risk which is Michael ’s fault for not “ assure her everything , ” which is Thomas ’ fault because he ’s violent , which is Sophia ’s fault for being a big mama , which is all Martinez ’ fault because he put her in jailhouse , which is ( I think ) Dempsey ’s fault for suck nipper blood and trip the light fantastic with angels in France .
Which cue me – WTF is this whole “ guardian holy man ” crap ?
While everybody is figuring out who is in charge of the guilt feelings trip , we ’re going on a special trip to France with Dempsey – who is being be irritatingly by Sean and Vicky . Once again , Sean reminded us double that he can make Vicky ’s Word ’s info “ go viral on the net , ” and she said , “ oh noes not the I sleep with you virus ok I can haz special charter plane to France pls ? ” And then they go to visit her protagonist “ Henri ” in his “ safe house ” which is cover in foretoken that say “ tabernac ” because that ’s all the French they know in Vancouver or wherever this show is shoot .
Yes I ’m get to the holy person thing – do n’t care .
So anyway there is this whole predictable electric discharge where Sean is plain into Vicky and she ’s obviously into him and then they all get inebriated at Henri ’s place – because that ’s what you do in good houses , is run through cheese and drink wine . And Vicky narrate some inebriated story about being too drunk to kill a quarry when she was in the CIA so she called off the hit and drove off completely intoxicated and ran into a car and killed the driver – but luckily it was the target ! Hahaha is n’t it risible that CIA broker drive intoxicated and bolt down the great unwashed ? ? ? That show that Vicky is actually a good person because she used to be CIA ! See ? twist out she was “ burned , ” which is why she ’s now a soldier of fortune drunk alternatively of doing it for the US government . Awww , now Sean really wants to abstract up with her . And I ’m ache to watch Burn Notice , which is full of burned agents I in reality give care about who hurtle good lines around and NEVER EVER BORE ME .
OK now for the fucking saint thing . Dempsey is doing some gargantuan archaeological dig in France , and his primary scientist hombre tells him he ’s come up a lot of bottles full of dead sea scrolls as well as a “ chamber ” which he “ entered . ” And Dempsey articulate goddamn I told you not to enter the sleeping room – oh well I ’ll kill you now . So he toss off him , which is probably good because now some poor postdoc might have a chance to get a tenure - track job .
He tosses aside the beat sea scroll bottles and tromps through some caves to the “ chamber , ” which is full of neolithic - front drawings of teeny figures support around a bighearted lily-white GIANT . And then he tells his help about how “ every organized religion in the world has guardian holy man , but they are just symbols . ” And yeah , you guessed it : He concludes his speech by swear , “ But they are very very very very very very very real . ” Yes , that ’s right hoi polloi . This show just was n’t slaked with the stratum of stupid that it had plumbed . It had to go into GUARDIAN ANGEL territory .
And now for some carnage
So the outlander are hear to get out of the church , but their teleporter thingie only has enough U rods to destroy the Washington Monument so they do that instead of teleporting themselves to safety machine . You know , to show how powerful they are . And Martinez cave and says that they are terrorists and that to hold reach the rest of America he ’ll send some jalopy to repel the aliens to the drome and give them a planing machine .
Meanwhile , Sterling has project out that Lee is actually an stranger and is spy on the billion vociferation he ’s stupidly been exchange with Sophia during this whole thing – calls in which she tells him that she ’s bluff out and the teleporter thingie ca n’t do anything . So of path somebody “ decrypts ” the calls between Lee and Sophia , and then they know about the bluff , and then they start firebombing the buses .
Thomas does the ripe thing and sacrifices his passenger vehicle so that the teleporter can snaffle Sophia ’s bus ( I opine it ’s charge up enough to take hold of one bus topology now ) . There are a few explosions and Thomas expire and Leila is saved and stares expressionlessly at everything .
air in next week when Sophia says the teleporter thingie is going to jump using Google ads to lift money for more U bars , and Dempsey says he had to torture and kill fry to protect Earth from aliens . Hopefully Vicky will drive drunk and murder the correct bad guy again . With characters like these , you just want this show to go on and on .
