Conservationists , administration official , and local community member are banding together to pull off a rescue of eight Giraffa camelopardalis strand on a shrink island in Kenya . They made the first successful rescue of a giraffe named Asiwa today , with more planned in the number days and weeks .

The population of Giraffa camelopardalis in Africa has been declining over the past few decades , due to habitat loss and poaching .
