If you ’ve only been watching Star Wars movies over the retiring two years , you ’ve missed a crowd of great stuff . The comic strip , books , and telecasting shows have sport vast revelations , new characters , and more . In the slip of the books , though , most of the unexampled hooey has only been seeable in our imagination . Until now .
The third book in Chuck Wendig ’s Aftermath trilogy , Empire ’s closing , is out February 21 . ( sole first excerpt here ! ) It ’s a story set after Return of the Jedi but before The Force Awakens that explains what happened to classic and fan favourite characters , as well as lots of newfangled characters .
Two of the wiz of the tarradiddle are Rebel Norra Wexley and Imperial Rae Sloane , and on the affair of the final Word ’s release , Barnes and Noble will unloosen an exclusive poster with them on it . We ’ve fancy Sloane before , in the pages of the Marvel Comics , but never as a Grand Admiral . And no one has ever seen Norra Wexley before , which means this is her first actual appearance in Star Wars canon . Here are Grand Admiral Sloane and Wexley , thanks toDel Reyand creative person Steve Thomas .

Now , if you have n’t read the books , here ’s some backdrop . Norra Wexley was a sensation Rebel pilot who fought in the Battle of Endor . She cerebrate she was going to be done after that , but since the Empire did n’t go away after the death of the Emperor , she was sucked back into the battle . She now leads a little team of Rebels ( much like the team on the show Rebels , but with different characters ) on various mission . By the remnant of Christian Bible two , Life Debt , Sloane and her crew set off to encounter Grand Admiral Rae Sloane , a richly - outrank majestic leader the team believes was responsible for for a violent onslaught on the New Republic .
And if the name “ Wexley ” is ring a bell , yes . Norra ’s son is Snap Wexley , the character played by Greg Grunberg in The Force Awakens .
If you ’re dying for a Star Wars fix as we hold off for The Last Jedi , the Aftermath books will do the trick . The first ledger is a bit of a letdown , with much of the legal action focused in one place . Its sequel is magnificent , though . With Life Debt , Wendig really spreads the narration out and gives the newfangled characters depth . Plus , there are some amazing asides sport Han Solo and others . It ’s deserving enchant up before Empire ’s End shoot shelf .
